Belle Lapidi By Walsh Memorials recently unveiled a life-size hand carved statute that they had been working on over the last 12 months. This work of art will be displayed outside their showroom in Bloxwich for the local community to enjoy.
During the unveiling event, hundreds of people, including an Army cadet troop, the Mayor of Walsall, several local councillors, and TV personality Mark ‘Billy’ Billingham MBE from SAS Who Dares Wins, attended. It was a wonderful occasion where the community came together to celebrate this new monument and honour the late Queen Elizabeth II.
In addition to providing something for the community to appreciate for years to come, Belle Lapidi By Walsh Memorials aimed to highlight their exceptional carving skills, beautifully demonstrated in this new statue.
The monument was carved from one solid block of granite that was sourced from their own quarry, with intricate inlays of contrasting granite colours this truly is a remarkable statue.
Billy Billingham, known for TV series ‘SAS: Who Dares Wins’ said:
“It’s really great to put Walsall on the map – to show that we do respect our monarchy”
“It’s great for the young kids to be able to look at that, who weren’t around when she was here, and go ‘Who is she?’, learn about her, learn about the history. Because she was absolutely pivotal in the world, not just in the UK”.
Jake Walsh, Director said:
“I’m so proud of the work that has gone into making this all come together. To see the support of the local community at the reveal was just phenomenal. I think everyone will agree the statue of the late Queen Elizabeth II is just beautiful.”
