An interior designer who has worked in the industry for almost three decades recently celebrated the first birthday and success of launching a unique and exclusive creative group for architects, surveyors, designers and craftspeople at the historic Stanmer House.
House of Cybele brings together the specialist talents and skills used to construct and enhance residential and commercial properties. It was established following the personal experiences of founder Jennifer Anderson Haysom while running her two design businesses, Bluebird Interiors and Anderson Haysom Design.
Frequently working alongside a trusted network of talented builders, architects and craftspeople, it became apparent to Jennifer that there was no dedicated space where these specialists could come together to freely exchange concepts, inspire one another and collaborate on innovative ventures.

In April 2025, House of Cybele was launched, and six specialist events have since taken place at architecturally impressive venues across Sussex, with over 250 specialists attending and new contacts and collaborations being created.
More than £1,500 has also been raised to date for two small charities that House of Cybele supports on an ongoing basis. Heritage Crafts supports and safeguards traditional craft skills, while United In Design delivers equal opportunity pathways into the interior design industry for people from disadvantaged backgrounds.

A special event celebrating House of Cybele’s first birthday took place at the beautiful and historic Stanmer House in Stanmer Park, Brighton. Known for its modern, neo-classical style, the gathering featured a tour of the building and grounds, alongside expert talks on Georgian architecture from Alter Architects and flooring restoration from Sussex Floor Restoration.
Historian Dr Sue Berry also discussed key moments in the building’s history and the changes it has endured. Guests enjoyed a two-course lunch, plenty of networking opportunities and a special charity fundraiser that raised almost £400.
Jennifer Anderson Haysom comments: “It’s been wonderful to see House of Cybele take shape over the past twelve months. What began as a clear vision bringing designers, makers and craftspeople together in one room is now beginning to grow into a real community. The aim has always been to celebrate and support the specialist knowledge and skills that sit behind great design, and to create a space where those working in craft, heritage and design can meet, share knowledge and learn from one another. We are also beginning to explore collaborations to bring House of Cybele to other cities, including Bath and London.”
The Guild of Master Craftsmen would like to congratulate Jennifer and everyone involved with House of Cybele on its successful first year. We wish the collective every success as it continues to grow, create new connections and champion the specialist skills found across the craft, heritage and design sectors.
