Member Profile : FlowerTops

Carol Parr is the owner and manager of FlowerTops Florist in Rhyl, Denbighshire. Bench trained, multi-award winning, truly talented in her craft and a proud Member of The Guild of Master Craftsmen.

Carol’s journey into floristry came not so long ago, losing her job as a teacher during the 2009 recession she found herself having to make a gift for her mother’s birthday, as she could not afford to buy one. A silk flower arrangement was made and at great delight to her mother, and her neighbour who then ordered one for herself. A short while later Carol set up a stall twice a week in a local shopping centre selling silk arrangements, which quickly turned into regular customers and into requests for fresh flowers.

Although bench trained, Carol’s skills and the quality of her work was widely recognised and, a website soon followed which meant her home started to become her very own florists!

In October 2010 Carol courageously took a leap forward and opened her first shop, upgrading within her first year to the much larger shop she is in today, and her business continues to grow. FlowerTops won the title of Best Business in 2012, voted for by local people, and in both 2016 and 2017 won Florist of the Year. Carol’s skills have been recognised and accredited not only as an Interflora specialist, but as a Couture florist also.

To date, her most interesting request has been for a ‘succulent’ bridal bouquet, which she delivered to the highest of standards.

Carol aspires for FlowerTops to be a leader in the floristry industry, celebrating this unique craft the way it should be, using quality flowers, delivered with skill, integrity and artistic flair, valued by the customer.
