Member Profile: Makastone

Originally from the town of Gubin, on the Polish border with Germany, Daniel Makas came to the UK in 2006. He began working as a stone carver, quickly developing an incredible eye for detail – a skill that he continues to employ in all aspects of his work. Daniel soon broadened the range of services on offer, to include HETAS registered woodburning stove installation and fireplace alterations.

As Daniel’s reputation for reliability and attention to detail spread, he began receiving more and more enquiries about other services. To satisfy this demand, he assembled a team of craftsmen, covering a wide range of skills and sharing his passion for producing work of the highest quality.

Some highlights for Makastone as fireplace specialists have included installing a Mendip stove for the private home of architects, which was featured in Homebuilding & Renovating magazine at the beginning of 2018.

Makastone has also restored and installed an antique Statuary and Sienna marble fireplace at the new Defence & National Rehabilitation Centre near Loughborough, which was financed by donors led by the 6th Duke of Westminster.

Based in Langport in the West Country, Makastone pride themselves on the quality and precision of their work, offering friendly and reliable service to customers throughout Somerset and Dorset. They often travel further to complete bigger projects.

They have recently worked in the creative district of Paintworks in Bristol on a large commercial project with Tracey Baker Design, undertaking a refurbishment in several phases.

Makastone offer a wide range of specialist building services, from small-scale alterations to complex projects. The range of skills covered by the team makes Makastone extremely flexible and able to satisfy many home improvement needs.

Home improvements include kitchens and bathrooms, extensions and loft conversions, renovations and refurbishments. This includes sash window restoration, which involves making sash windows look beautiful again and returning them to full working order.

What makes Makastone unique is the uncompromising care and attention to detail they give to all their customers. They treat the environment they are working in with the utmost respect, creating the minimum of disruption to their clients.

For more complex projects Makastone are able to offer a project management service to ensure that the work is carried out on time, to budget and with an eye on the detail at all times.
