Lionpark Construction Ltd is a Cornish-based Design and Build construction specialist working at the high end of the domestic market. The company believes in providing their clients with a top quality service and a quality build.
The owners of the business are William Fullerton (Billy) and Dan Hatfield. Billy has been in the construction industry for over 30 years. He has extensive experience of manufacturing and the construction of timber frame properties. Before working in property development he was employed by a major contractor on a wide range of civil projects. This included constructing motorway bridges and building aircraft hangers. These skills proved very useful for the large domestic projects that are now LionPark’s specialist market.
Before moving into property development Dan had a 12-year financial career in the City. His broad range of skills means he is able to provide advice and guidance across all stages of a construction project. He believes that a good project manager should have full knowledge of all the different areas. This includes the financial and design side of the business and close management of the project through to construction.
The varied skill sets of Billy and Dan complement each other well. LionPark is able to offer a flexible approach to new builds; from providing concept designs through to full-on construction drawings and build. The company can work with architects and self-builders, or provide their own concept designs and construction drawings for phased build management or a turnkey handover service. They also have a wealth of experience and an army of subcontractors at their disposal, including master masons, civil and structural engineers and interior designers.
LionPark’s projects include contemporary timber, energy-efficient new builds in their local area, but they also renovate and modernise old buildings. The company only takes on a few projects per year, aiming for a ‘big’ (usually a high-end domestic build or an extensive high-end specification refurbishment) build, with a small and/or medium job running alongside.
This approach has kept the company very nimble on staff and helps to keep their total overheads down – a saving that they pass onto clients by providing cost-effective solutions. LionPark keeps full control over a job and aims to maintain their own high standards and quality.
Two local turnkey designs by LionPark include Odd Spot and Tanzarra. Odd Spot is a recent project – involving the demolition, design and new build of an iconic three-storey energy-efficient home on a coastal plot in Cornwall. Groundwork revealed the site was close to a heritage monument, which involved working closely with Cornwall Archaeology as well as excavating through four metres of sand to find solid ground. The Tanzarra project on the north coast of Cornwall involved the demolition of a split-level bungalow and replacing it with an eco-friendly two-storey property. It is a prime example of LionPark’s high quality workmanship and was a finalist in the LABC Building Excellence Awards 2014.
