The Guild of Master Craftsmen fosters learning in the skilled trades and crafts.
With that as a key objective, we actively encourage our members to offer apprenticeships to young people.
For those who would prefer not to study full-time but to earn and learn, there is the option of work-based learning. This gives the chance to gain a qualification while working.
Apprenticeships are a way for young people (16-24) to continue to learn while they are working and gain National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs). These qualifications are recognised by all UK employers. They are an ideal way to kick-start your career or get a better job.
Apprentices learn through both on and off-the-job education and training to build up knowledge and skills, gaining qualifications and earning money at the same time. The employer will pay your wages and give on-the-job training. You will also spend time with a learning provider studying key skills, team working, communication, IT, numeric skills and problem-solving.
An Apprenticeship offers NVQ Level 2 plus Key Skills and a Technical Certificate, and progression to an Advanced Apprenticeship. It lasts between 1 and 2 years.
An Advanced Apprenticeship offers NVQ Level 3 plus Key Skills and a Technical Certificate. It will last between 2 and 3 years. It is a recognised route into higher education.

We support The London Apprenticeships Company's new apprenticeship schemes.
